The self described ‘electronic hydro funk’ trio from Boulder, CO, Sunsquabi have cultivated their own blend genre-defying music. The high energy group is composed of producer/guitarist Kevin Donohue, producer/bassist Andrew Clymer, and drummer Chris Anderson who all contribute their skills resulting in a sound and style unique in it’s own. Their live shows are held in high regard, as they play out their music with said instruments, resulting in dance-worthy and incredibly progressive sets. Not to mention their recorded music ain’t too shabby either. They’re set to release their Lone Star EP in segments (one song every Tuesday) over the next three weeks, with the first free release being the title track Lone Star.
Here’s what they had to say about the EP: “We are very excited to be releasing these new tunes this month. The “Lone Star EP” has been several months in the making, and contains some of our freshest ideas and sounds yet. “Lone Star” is a track we created while on our first tour through Austin, TX this past summer. We experimented and refined Lonestar’s sound through playing it live at places such as Wakarusa, Sonic Bloom, and River Beats. The experiences during this first tour helped us find our sound and grow even more as a band and as musicians individually and collectively. The track features Lucy Guyver from Boulder on the Violin and utilizes various drum samples that were recorded over the past year in two different studios.”
