EDC in Las Vegas. Wow. 30 hours of loud, outrageous, brain scrambling music. I love it. I was a little skeptical of how it would turn out in Vegas to be honest. I liked having EDC in my own backyard and Vegas was such a…trip. The drive, the hotel, the transportation to and from EDC, all things I wasn’t used to. But at the end it was well worth the trouble. For the Cali natives like myself, we have a little bit of a bone to pick. EDC just wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t in LA. The crowd would be different, we’d be on concrete instead of in the Coliseum, the the all around vibe just wouldn’t be the same.
But, after three days of dancing til I was dead, I realized that EDC is still alive and well. I little different, but thriving nonetheless. There weren’t as many cool artsy attractions as yeahs past, but Insomniac did make up for it was an absolutely enormous lineup. Every stage was going off at all times. The best part of the weekend had to be the free water stations. Bless those water station volunteers. We couldn’t have made it through the weekend without you. All in all, EDC was a huge sucess in my book.
Vegas stole my heart, but Cali has my soul. 2012, lets bring Electric Daisy Carnival back to LA.

Best Set
Drumroll…. Fucking SKRILLEX mahdudes. The fool blew the place sky fucking high from 3-430am Saturday night. He threw down such a good variety of filthy brostep, hiphop, electro, and even a little moombahton. A few minutes into Skrillex’s set, Afrojack decides to let us know that there were just as many people in front of Neon Garden for Skrillex as there were at the main stage for himself and David Guetta. Now I’ve been in some crowded situations, but the Skrillex crowd was literally ass-to-crotch as far as the eye could see. I guess the planes flying overhead telling people to go see Skrillex actually worked. But yeah, Skrillex is worth the hype.

Runners Up
Afrojack threw doowwnn! The first couple times I saw Afrojack way back when I wasn’t very impressed. But over the past year he has really been stepping up his production and sets. I was ragin super hard for his Saturday set and word has it, his Sunday set was even harder! Kudos to you Afrojack.

Sooo happy I saw Tiesto. I’ve been waiting to see this guy for years and he did not disappoint. I was expecting him to go a little soft, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Tiesto threw down an awesome set that was just as hard anyone else.

Honorable Mention
Drop the Lime: This guy puts on a really fun and energetic set with a wide variety of genres. He went from the dirtiest jungle beats to blues guitar with one flick of a switch and made it sound seamless. Good Shit.
Drop The Lime – Sex Sax (Original Mix)

Wolfgang Gartner: As expected Wolfgang laid a heavy coast of sweat on everyone to start the night off right. Though most of his set was filled with his all too familiar bangers, he did give us a preview of some upcoming tracks that and straight bangers. Stay tuned to Wolfgang.
Alesso: What can you say about the Swedes. These guys are cranking out DJs on a conveyer belt and Alesso is the newest addition. I was really excited to see him after hearing Avicii talk him up and his Save the World remix. My conclusion, he’s pretty friggin good.
Chuckie: I thought I was going to have a dance seizure…and I was sitting down. Nuff said.
Porter Robinson: I wasn’t a Porter fan until I saw him at EDC. I’m not too big on the young gun electro sound, but Porter’s productions and sets are maturing very nicely. Very excited to see where he’ll be a little down the road.
Tim Berg – Seek Bromance (Porter Robinson Remix)

Feed Me: HHEELLLLLL YEEAA. If you didn’t know, now you know. FEED ME
Laidback Luke: I had my second sitting dance seizure.

My Favorite
Saturday night was a hectic situation. Swedish House or Doctor P. I was torn. I’ve never seen Doctor P and had already seen SHM before, but I still couldn’t decide. I met up with my friends and they wanted to see ATB. For some reason, I don’t know why, I said fuck it and went to ATB. Best. Decision. Ever. I got to get away from the barrage of bangers and enjoys some old school tracks that I hadn’t heard in daayyss, yet alone live in a set. Hats off you ATB for my favorite set of the weekend.

Nice post Walls. Nobody could have posted it better
you forgot to mention Crizzly, that guy puts it down
great work! but sorry to say, edc won’t be going back to LA cuz Vegas will host it for the next 5 years
I think Vegas was a much better choice for a venue. And Its too bad you didnt see jack beats. They had an AMAZING set. Hopefully its on the internet somewhere.
ATB fucking RULED!
As far as the sets you missed out on, the only worthwhile one I saw was Jack Beats. Perfectly set the stage for Skrillex
Rusko was average… much better set at Hard Haunted ’10.
Bassnectar had a solid performance for what I saw.
Big ups to Dada Life’s closing set as well, THEY ENDED WITH A RICK ROLL! Too epic Dada Life.
Bassnectar killed it! id say my second fav set after sub focus. i cant believe you dont even mention sub focus or showtek at all?!?!? both played amazing sets.
ATB didnt play 9pm which was a big let down for me and i dont think Tiesto’s sets are the same anymore, not enough trance.
TOTALLY forgot how amazing Sub Focus was.
atb fucking killed it. when he played not another teen spirit the crowd went ape shit. at nocturnal last year he played killing in the name of and it was so intense. as far as sets you missed out on, bassnectar fucking destroyed me.
I agree with everything you said! I got stuck in a bad entry line for an hour and missed Feed Me which was sad, but ATB fucking killed it, my favorite set also!
I took my friends to Jack Beats instead of Guetta knowing that they would destroy and didn’t let down followed up by a huge Skrillex set!
Water stations were supplied by http://www.eventwatersolutions.ca. Thanks to Insomniac for bringing us on board, and for providing us with awesome volunteers. We had a great time keeping everyone hydrated!
there it is
mliz55 Posted on What a nice idea. You can put a candy cane on a megant for one day, an angel made from a clothes pin or some pipe cleaners and a scrap of fabric, those peppermint candies would fit well, download some Christmas clip art, print, cut out, and glue, use some silvery garland with stars, and just clip a bit, wrap a tiny package, make a wreath out of a bit of pine and a little piece of ribbon, a tiny pine cone, take some felt and make a little dove, a stocking or two, a santa face, candles, a snowflake. Have fun!
Are you kidding me Skrillex was perhaps the worst thing I have seen in awhile @ EDC basically a weirdo just playing what ever the f he wants with no order whatsoever other than that agreed
well said my amigo. if I may add, you missed Dash Berlin! Did not expect him to throw down as heavy as he did, he dropped some trance-electro-house hybrid beats that I’ve never heard before and blew my mind.
