From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The Twelves were formed by João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira in 2005. The name came from the strange coincidence of their shared birthday: July 12th 1980. Over the years they have done a variety of remixes for artists such as Fever Ray, Two Door Cinema Club, New Young Pony Club and La Roux. The most notable came in July of 2007 when they remixed the track “Boyz” from M.I.A’s sophomore album, Kala. The reworked track with an added club feel resulted in one of the most talked about remixes at the time. Since then their remixes have only increased in quality, and I’ve taken the liberty to include my personal favorites (all very logikal). Their BBC Essential Mix is a perfect starting point to get an idea of what you will experience this April.

Bonus Coachella! – Erykah Badu

I wanted to give the “Queen of Neo-Soul” aka Eykah Badu her own feature post, unfortunately time is not on our side when counting the number of weekends until Coachella. Erykah’s debut album Baduizm was released in 1997 to much acclaim and ended up going triple platinum. A hell of a way to start her career out! Deep lyrics, soulful, organic beats and beautiful vocals all come together in making Badu’s tracks uniquely amazing. Catching some, if not all, of her set is a must. I’ve got some classics for you guys but be sure to delve deeper into Baduizm. Enjoi! [BUY]
